Single-row tapered roller bearings are able to accommodate both radial and axial forces. The axial load capacity depends on the degree of the contact angle. Single-row tapered roller bearings are able to accommodate the axial load in one direction only; therefore, the arrangements are assembled in pairs. The axial clearance or preload in the pairs of tapered roller bearings is to be adjusted during assembly. The size of the axial clearance or preload is selected according to operational conditions, the size and the type of bearings and according to the requirements for rigidity of the fitting.
